After the Death of a pregnant elephant in Kerala, social media has become a plethora of regret, rage, and reactions. Many celebrities like Ratan Tata, Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar, Menka Gandhi, and many others have also tweeted about this incident. Some have already come with controversial statements and some may come afterward. This incident is surely a shame for mankind being reported that the elephant was fed cracker-stuffed Pineapple by the locals.
Fact Check:
Incident Took Place in Palakkad, Not in Malappuram
After checking some facts I got to know that the Mannarkkad District Forest Officer K Sunil Kumar clarified that it isn't confirmed that the giant animal has consumed a pineapple and locals could not have fed a fruit stuffed with live firecrackers to a wild elephant inside the forest as it would be very dangerous. But it was found that the animal has sustained some injuries in its mouth. And forest officers asserted that bombs are often used by the locals to keep animals, such as boars to keep away from their crop fields and sometimes other animals also fall prey to these traps. However, this is also a punishable offense to lay these lethal traps.
But for sure we can say that no one has killed that Elephant intentionally by feeding a cracker laden fruit.
Incident Took Place in Palakkad, Not Malappuram
There has already been much rage in social media with some communal odor added to it that the Muslim dominated region of Mallapuram is responsible for the death of the elephant. Forest Officers strengthened the fact that The elephant was spotted dead in the Velliyar river which flows through Palakkad district which is situated in the Kottopadam panchayat in Mannarkad in Palakkad district. The elephant was already spotted in the village a few days before the incident as well. The forest also falls in the Malappuram - Palakkad border, which is the only connection to the former.
